Village Roadshow is Australia’s largest theme park operator, with over 5 Million guests annually at their theme parks. These include Sea World, Sea World Resort and Water Park, Warner Bros. Movie World, Wet’n’Wild, Paradise Country and the Australian Outback Spectacular.

Sea World is located in Main Beach, South East Queensland, covering 25 hectares and is the premier marine park in Australia.

BUSINESS NEEDS

Village Roadshow have recently moved all their arcade games over to a cashless payment system. This system runs off Telstra 3G sim cards. In the Arcade Room at Sea World Nara Resort the coverage was very poor, likely due to the heavy tint on the doors, and the system was struggling to connect to any 3G signal. This caused delay when processing the cashless payments and quite often was failing altogether.

Solution:

APPLICATION:

Ensuring continuous 3G data mobile connection throughout the Arcade Room. There is heavy tint on the doors which was blocking 3G mobile signal.

THE SOLUTION

Cel-Fi GO was the ideal solution. Powertec Reseller Nathan Moon from Protecc installed Cel-Fi GO along with the MARS antenna and the Dome antenna. The MARS antenna was placed on the outside of the door for cosmetic purposes and the dome antenna was placed neatly in the ceiling.

For the cashless system to operate efficiently it needs to have a minimum RSSI of 10. Before the installation of Cel-Fi GO solution the RSSI was 7. After the installation, the RSSI was 22. This is an amazing increase that ensures the cashless system will operate very efficiently.

COMMENTARY

With the implementation of these cashless payment systems, profits have increased by 30% across the board for all the arcade areas in the many theme parks operated by Village Roadshow. The reliability of Cel-Fi GO to maintain a strong signal has now opened the door for future projects within the Theme Parks to improve their mobile signal across more sections of the park.
